Excursion to Famara Beach

Excursion to Famara Beach

In the north-west of the island of Lanzarote, barely half an hour from the port of Arrecife, there are 5 endless kilometres of golden sand, known as Famara Beach. It is located within the Chinijo Archipelago Nature Reserve, between the fishing village of La Caleta de Famara and the base of the impressive Famara Cliffs. At low tide, when the water forms a thin layer on the sand and reflects the sky and the cliffs like a giant mirror, we can appreciate all the beauty of this wild, free beach even more.

Sports, relaxation and typical cuisines in La Caleta de Famara

Famara Beach is the ideal scenario for water sports such as surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing, thanks to the constant waves and wind there. Or even for air sports such as hang gliding, using the top of the Famara Cliffs as a take-off area. But it is also ideal quiet day of sunbathing and swimming, strolling along the shore and relaxing, especially at low tide, when the ocean draws back and enormous ponds remain all along the shore with calm, shallow water. After a day at the beach, there is nothing better than a delicious fish dish on the terrace of any of the restaurants in the nearby fishing village of La Caleta de Famara.
